Pricing and what a job costs
Do you charge a call-out fee?
There is no call-out fee at all; it sits at $0. A plumber turns up, works out what is wrong and writes you a price on the spot, and if you would rather not proceed you pay nothing.
How do you work out the price for a job?
We price by the job, never by the hour. The plumber looks over the work, then writes down a single figure that covers the whole fix, and that number is set before any tools come out.
Do nights and weekends cost more than weekdays?
They do not. There is no after-hours surcharge and no weekend rate, so a call at midnight on Sunday is priced on the very same basis as one at nine on a Monday.
What happens if I decide not to go ahead after the quote?
Then you simply say no, and it has cost you nothing. Looking at the job and putting a price in writing are both free, so there is never any pressure to commit on the spot.

Booking, availability and what to expect
Are you available after hours?
The phone is covered right around the clock, every day of the week and on public holidays. Ring at any hour and a working plumber picks up, ready to talk you through a leak or a gas smell there and then.
How soon can someone reach me?
Response times depend on where the nearest van is and what the roads are doing. Our crews are usually working somewhere close by, so arrival is generally quick, though a busy Princes Highway or high-rise lift access can add a little time.
Do you answer the phone yourselves, or is it a call centre?
You reach a licensed plumber, not an outsourced call desk reading from a script. Because it is a tradesperson on the line, you get a straight answer about what to isolate and what the repair is likely to take.
Will the plumber carry the parts to finish on the first visit?
For the everyday faults, yes; the vans carry the usual spares so the work wraps up in one go. A rarer component or a whole new appliance is the main reason a job might need a return trip.

Licensing, insurance and the warranty
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. The work is done under NSW plumbing licence #275278C, the business carries full insurance, and the certificates that safeguard your home's records come attached to the invoice, not held back until you chase them.
What does the Lifetime Labour Warranty actually cover?
It covers our labour for the life of the work. Should anything we fitted or fixed fail to hold up, we return and sort it out, and that follow-up visit costs you nothing.
Do you provide compliance certificates for gas work?
Yes. Any notifiable gas job is signed off and the certificate forms part of what you receive with the bill, giving your property a clean paper trail for insurers or a future sale.

Common local plumbing problems
Why do the older homes here keep blocking their drains?
The pre-1940 cottages were laid with earthenware and vitrified clay, which crack at the joints over time. The mature trees that line these blocks then send roots straight into those gaps, and the shifting shale ground widens them further.
My hot water died overnight, should I repair or replace it?
It depends on the age and state of the unit, which the plumber checks before advising. Plenty of the storage heaters in the older brick homes are beyond a sensible repair, so we set the cost of fixing it against a fresh unit and you decide.
Can you help with older gas fittings during a renovation?
Absolutely. The pre-war and post-war brick stock around here tends to hide dated gas runs, and a kitchen or bathroom strip-out is the ideal time to pressure-test those lines and bring any tired fittings up to code.
Does heavy rain make the local drains back up?
Sometimes. When a big Sydney downpour arrives, the older shared drains on the low, undulating pockets take on more run-off than they were built for, and the overflow finds its way back up through gullies and floor wastes.
What should I do first if a pipe bursts?
Head for the water meter at your front boundary and turn the mains tap a quarter turn to cut the flow, then lift rugs and valuables clear. After that, phone us and we will guide the rest while a plumber makes their way over.
Water is coming through my ceiling from the unit above, what should I do?
Close your own mains tap at the meter as a precaution and call without delay. Where a shared building is involved we shut down the affected riser, secure the area, and write up what happened for the owners corporation and the neighbour above.
Do you handle blocked sewers and tree-root problems?
Yes, and roots pushing into old earthenware sewers are among the faults we see most on the established streets. We run a camera to locate the break, cut the roots away, and can reline the run internally so the same blockage does not creep back.
